Gaze is a series of paintings inspired by the experience of being held in the gaze of a strong woman. Well known actors were used as reference to highlight the contrast between the celebrity portrayals of these women and the reality of their being.
The intent of these paintings is to hold a space for the viewer to experience this dichotomy. The initial recognition of the familiar visage and the confronting gaze of the mystery staring back at you.
